Meet Bostockwhite Ltd, run by Director Tony Bostock and his team. Read his answers to get to know him and the firm.

What do you like most about working for your firm?

“I like working with similar owner-managed businesses, people who have entrusted us with giving them good advice to protect and grow their enterprise. At Bostockwhite, we cover a wide range of industries that few clients are alike, and everyone has new ideas and challenges that require our support.”

What are, in your words, the strengths of your firm?

“Undoubtedly, the strengths of this firm are the team of people I work alongside. The team are highly skilled and motivated to provide an exceptional level of client service whilst having the closeness of working with a small cohort of experienced professionals. We benefit from our location on an excellent road network which enables us to cover several counties whilst also being close to the centre of Nottingham where we maintain excellent professional contacts.”

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned at your firm?

“I would say that finding the confidence to trust in my instincts to delegate responsibility to the senior team members has enabled us to build our reputation in the Corporate Finance and Audit arenas well ahead of our similar-sized competitors.”

What is the best experience you have had at your firm?

“Two things come to mind, firstly the satisfaction from watching colleagues develop, learning to stretch themselves as they gain new skills. Nurturing the talent within our team is rewarding and heart-warming. Secondly, when we receive a referral from an existing client, it proves that we are doing the right things the right way, and the high standards we set out to achieve two decades ago are still being recognised today.”

What results that you achieved for a client are you most proud of?

“There have been many proud moments in the 19 years we have serviced our clients here, and one of the standout events was securing the sale of a family business for £16.5 million, which far exceeded their expectations. The American buyer required a great deal of due diligence being undertaken over several months, and the clients thanked us personally for being alongside them to the successful conclusion of the deal.”

What is your favourite statement that you regularly use when advising your clients?

“Try and look at your business on an 80/20 basis and focus on the 20% of your customers who generate 80% of your revenue.”

Which conditions do you think a firm of the future should meet?

“I believe that for our profession to remain the “trusted adviser” for a business person, we must continue to put the client first in everything we do. This has been our mantra throughout the 19 years of our business, and providing local and trusted advice will continue to be our greatest asset in the business community.”

How do you see the future of your firm from your perspective?

“I’m excited about the benefits that joining a larger group can bring to us. We will have the support of the group when we need it, and we will be able to offer our skills and services as others need us. Together we will be stronger and more successful.”
