In this section of the website, we introduce you to one of our firms. Up next is Marlow Proactive from Leicestershire, run by Directors Adam Marlow and Carl Danvers and their team. Read Adam’s answers to our questions to get to know him and Marlow Proactive better.
What do you like about working for your firm?
“I love the relationships I have with my clients and the difference we can make to their financial decision making. Many become good friends and as such, ask my opinion on a broad range of business and other related issues. My goal is for my team to nurture and create similar relationships with their clients, so we all feel part of the family and therefore clients will know we’ll always do our best for them, and that they’re not just another number on the client list.”
What are in your words the strengths of your firm?
“We have a great blend of people here, with lots of experience and enthusiasm, and with an eagerness to always learn and develop new skills so that they and our clients experience a growth-based relationship. We’re always adopting new initiatives and passing on this learning and knowledge to our clients to ensure they directly benefit from our culture of continuous improvement. We also have a value-adding mindset, and we always strive to get involved with our client’s big-picture planning, as we try to avoid the ‘year-end only’ service, unless that’s all the client wants.”

Adam Marlow, Director of Marlow ProActive.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned at your firm?
“Too many to mention really, but I would say leadership through effective communication is the key to success. Whether it’s communicating effectively with my team or our clients, and usually both at the same time, to ensure we are all on the same wavelength and getting our message across. Everyone is looking for direction and decisiveness and practising strong leadership is the best tool to demonstrate this strength.”
What is the best or most rewarding experience you have had at your firm so far?
“Definitely seeing my team develop over the years, and subsequently seeing the quality of our client base continually improve as a result.”
What result you achieved for a client, are you most proud of?
“Again too many to mention, but I guess being heavily involved with our largest client for 20 years. We’ve helped in taking the business through different growth stages to an eventual multi-million-pound sale, after witnessing and taking part in the hard work of the management team over the years, resulting in financial security and a stress-free retirement.”
What is your favourite statement that you regularly use when advising your clients?
“Know your numbers as they’re the foundation to all your planning.”
Adam Marlow, Director of Marlow ProActive.
Which conditions should a ‘firm of the future’ meet?
“The overarching goal is to provide some level of advisory input for every client. Whether that’s simply an annual meeting to review their goals and plans, or right through the spectrum of advisory services to the ultimate monthly coaching service to support, advise and inspire them. Removing the ‘compliancy only’ service must be the target for us to strive for.”
How do you see the future of your firm from your perspective?
“I’m sure we will continue to flourish over the short term, and come into our own even more so in the medium to long term, through our ongoing education of our clients and prospects as to how we can help them grow their business and wealth better by being proactive, not reactive.”
