In this section of the website, we introduce you to one of our firms. Up next is Tudor John, run by Director Don Nelson and his team. Read his answers to our questions to get to know him and the firm.
What do you like about working for your firm?
“If for some reason I’ve not been available, I will often hear from a client that it didn’t matter because another member of the team who they hadn’t spoken to before helped them. We’re a very joined-up team at Tudor John; it’s not a place for job titles and hierarchies, just everyone getting on with delivering the very best service we can.”
What are in your words the strengths of your firm?
“There is a really strong culture in our firm built around making it our priority to help our clients. We have an extremely capable team with a deep knowledge of who we act for and the support they need. Our clients don’t see us just as a part of a year-end process, they call us all the time; for them, we’re more of a helpline.”
“Don’t get lost in the jargon, just explain things the way you would if the client was standing in front of you.”
Don Nelson, Director
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned at your firm?
“It feels like I’m learning all the time, and it’s increasingly from the younger members of the team who instinctively get the new way of doing things. But if there is a lesson I learned from further back, it’s the value of keeping communication simple; don’t get lost in the jargon, just explain things the way you would if the client was standing in front of you. As a firm, we try to help clients understand by speaking to them on the same level.”
What is the most rewarding experience you have had at your firm so far?
“When we’ve been helping a client sell their business, fighting their corner, and then, once the dust has settled, the new owner has asked us to act for them too. Then you know you’ve done a good job! But it’s probably those times when a client phones you with some good news about their business that they didn’t particularly need to tell you, but they just thought they would share it with you. That shows they really see you as a partner in what they are doing.”
What result you achieved for a client, are you most proud of?
“We took on a client that was facing some huge challenges with HMRC at the highest level of enquiry. It was clear that much of the fault lay with previous advisers and the client’s faith in professionals was rock bottom. Our team’s painstaking reconstruction work, followed by us standing side-by-side with the client in front of the Revenue, saw us through. I think the client will be with us for life!”
“We’ve previously described our firm as ‘big firm service, small firm personality’. Becoming part of the Xeinadin Group can really make that happen.”
Don Nelson, Director
How do you see the future of your firm from your perspective?
“We’ve previously described our firm as ‘big firm service, small firm personality’. Becoming part of the Xeinadin Group can really make that happen, extending the reach of the firm both in terms of the breadth of services we can offer and the range of clients we can help.”
