In this section of the website, we introduce you to one of our firms. Up next is Finton Doyle run by Director Mathew Forshaw and his team. Read his answers to our questions to get to know him and the firm.

What do you like about working for your firm?

“The most enjoyable part of my work is advising clients and helping them resolve business and tax issues. Being in General Practice means that no two days are alike; our clients rely on us as the first point of call for business advice, and we need to be ready to support them, particularly when times are challenging.”

What are in your words the strengths of your firm?

“The strength of our firm is the great team we have built and the experience we have in looking after owner-managed businesses and individuals. We are a small team, making it easy for clients to access the support they need, but between us, we have many decades of experience not only in accountancy but also in the delivery of professional services generally. Our clients’ needs are put at the very heart of everything we do; our job is to get to understand them and give them the level of service they need to support them throughout their journey.”

Mathew Forshaw, Director of Finton Doyle.

What is the most valuable lesson you have learned at your firm?

“The most valuable lesson I have learned at my firm is not to be surprised by the challenges that can come on a daily basis, not just from clients but also from the world at large. You need to think on your feet, be adaptable, and above all take nothing for granted because you never know what’s around the next corner!”

What is the best or most rewarding experience you have had at your firm so far?

“The most rewarding thing for me at my firm so far is reaching our 10th anniversary. Over the last decade, the world has changed and we have had to evolve with it. Lessons have been learned, the way we operate has gone from desk-top to cloud-based, whilst the technical service we deliver grows ever more complex. The firm has grown, with more clients and an ever-expanding range of services, but happily, we still have many of the clients we started out with.”

What is your favourite statement that you regularly use when advising your clients?

“These accounts aren’t for me or the tax man, they are about you and your business.”

Mathew Forshaw, Director of Finton Doyle.

What result you achieved for a client, are you most proud of?

“The result I have achieved for a client that I am most proud of is taking three inexperienced individuals through a management buy-out process. They had never run a company or been directors and relied heavily on me and my team to guide them through the process. Eventually, after many years of support, we helped them through their own sale and the realisation of a very good return on their investment.”

How do you see the future of your firm from your perspective?

“The future for my firm is very exciting. We have a great opportunity to do something different as a collective within the Xeinadin Group, offering a range of services that were previously only available to firms much bigger than ourselves, whilst retaining the ability to look after our clients on a personal level and giving them the support they need.”
